MakerBot

What is a MakerBot?

MakerBots are awesome. Okay, need more detail? They’re 3D printers. They are these very new creations that let people construct their own device that can manipulate plastic to produce pretty much whatever objects they like. For example, over at Thingiverse, you can get plans to print out our own Whistle.

Essentially all a MakerBot is at the core is a super glorified hot glue gun.

Meet MakerBot #155

MakerBot #155 is my MakerBot. It was born out of “Batch #6″ and for the moment, I can’t use it until I get a crucial little cable that I don’t currently have. That said, I feel confident it’ll join the ranks of functional MakerBots soon enough. For some of my Photos of MakerBot #155, check out below.

Steps Moving Forward

Like the good Hard Hacker that I aspire to be, I of course have various plans on how MakerBot #155 will evolve. First and foremost is a project I started called ReplicatorBot. The ReplicatorBot project seeks to add a scanning facility to the MakerBot in some form.
